Cómo Usar
- Drop Your PDF: Drag any PDF in. The tool counts pages automatically and shows a preview of how the numbers will look (bottom center, default format).
- Customize Format: Pick format style: 'Page 1', '1 of 10', '1/10', 'Page A-1' (with custom prefix), '1' (just the number), or 'Custom'. Choose position: bottom-center, bottom-right, bottom-left, top-center, or custom coordinates. Set font (5+ system fonts), size, color.
- Set Starting Number: Default: page 1 on the first page. Change to start at any number (e.g. '5' for documents continuing from another PDF), or start counting from a specific page.
- Add Numbers: Click 'Add Page Numbers'. pdf-lib stamps the chosen format on every page in your browser. A 100-page PDF completes in 5-10 seconds.

Preguntas Frecuentes
How do I add page numbers to a PDF?
Drop your PDF into our PDF Page Numbers tool, pick a format (Page 1, 1 of 10, custom prefix), select position (bottom center is default), click 'Add', and save. Page numbers stamp on every page in your chosen style. Runs in your browser, no upload.
Can I choose different formats?
Yes — we support: 'Page 1' (most common for academic), '1 of 10' (clearer for readers), '1/10' (compact for slides), 'A-1' with custom prefix (for multi-section documents), or custom template (e.g. 'Confidential • Page 5 • Confidential'). Mix and match with position (corner or custom coordinates).
Will it overwrite existing page numbers?
If your PDF already has page numbers (from Word export, etc.), the new ones will overlap — not overwrite. To replace, remove existing numbers first by editing the source document or use a separate Remove Text tool. For most documents, the new numbers are placed in a slightly different position to avoid overlap.
Can I start counting at a specific number?
Yes — set 'Start counting at' to any number. Useful for multi-section books where each chapter restarts (Section A starts at 1, Section B starts at 1, etc.) or for documents continuing from another PDF (start at 50 if previous ended at 49). For per-section restarts, run the tool once per section and merge with PDF Merge.
Will my PDF be uploaded?
No. pdf-lib handles everything in your browser. Whether the PDF is a confidential exam paper, unpublished research, or HR records, the file stays on your device. Ideal for personal and academic use.
Does it work on multi-page documents?
Yes — tested with 1000+ page documents (books, manuals, exam papers). Initial render takes a few seconds; the stamping process is fast because we apply the same template per page. Total time scales linearly with page count.
