Will unlocking a PDF change its content?
No. The tool removes the password protection layer only. All pages, fonts, images, form fields, and annotations are preserved byte-for-byte. The only difference is that the file no longer requires a password to open.
Can I unlock a PDF without knowing the password?
Our tool requires you to enter the password you already know. We do not crack, brute-force, or recover lost passwords — that would be unethical and illegal in most jurisdictions. If you've forgotten the password, try common variations, check your password manager, or contact whoever sent you the file.
Does PDF unlocking remove DRM?
We only remove the standard PDF open password (user password), which is a viewer-level protection that anyone with the password can remove. We do not strip publisher-level DRM, owner permissions, or third-party DRM systems. If a PDF enforces edit/print restrictions, our tool removes those too (the 'owner password' is enforced by readers, not by the file itself).
Is my password safe?
Yes. The password is held in browser memory only, used to derive the AES key, then discarded. Nothing is uploaded, logged, or sent to any server. After the unlock completes, refreshing the page clears all state.
Can I unlock multiple PDFs at once?
