Common Questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Page numbers are added entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool will still work.

What number formats are available?

Multiple formats: plain digits (1, 2, 3...), padded digits (01, 02...), dash-wrapped (-1-, -2-...), prefixed (Page 1, Page 2...), and fractional (1/10, 2/10...). You can also use a custom prefix or suffix.

Where can I place the page numbers?

A 9-position grid covers every corner and edge: top-left, top-center, top-right, middle-left, middle-center, middle-right, bottom-left, bottom-center, bottom-right. You can also adjust the margin offset.

Can I start numbering from a specific number?

Yes. Set any starting number — useful when the PDF is part of a larger document. If you select a starting page, only pages from that point onward are numbered.

Does it add watermarks or ads?

No. Only the page numbers you configure are added. No watermarks, no logos, no hidden text — the output is a clean PDF with your chosen numbering.

What if my PDF is password-protected?

You'll be prompted for the password. Decryption happens locally in your browser and the password is never sent to any server. After unlocking, page numbers are applied normally.

Can I change the font or font size?

Currently the tool uses the default PDF font (Helvetica) at a readable size. For custom fonts or styling, export the PDF and use a desktop editor for fine-grained control.

Is the tool really free?

Yes. No charge, no sign-up, no watermark, no limit on file size or number of conversions. The tool is supported by non-intrusive advertising on the surrounding pages.
