Common Questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Resizing runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib — your file never leaves your device. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool will still work fully offline.

Does this tool reduce PDF file size?

No. This tool changes the page dimensions (for example Letter to A4). It does not compress the file. To reduce file size, use our PDF Compress tool after resizing.

What's the difference between A4 and Letter?

A4 is 210 × 297 mm (8.27 × 11.69 in) and is the international ISO 216 standard used in most countries outside North America. Letter is 8.5 × 11 in (215.9 × 279.4 mm) and is the US standard. Their aspect ratios are similar but not identical, so converting between them rarely causes content loss for typical documents.

Can I resize only specific pages?

Yes. Switch from 'All pages' to 'Page range' and enter pages like 1-3, 5, 8-10. Only the selected pages are resized; others keep their original dimensions. This is useful when a document has a mix of cover, body, and appendix pages in different sizes.

Will resizing distort my content?

No. We set the page box to your chosen dimensions without scaling the content. Text and images keep their original size and position; the page simply becomes larger or smaller. If you want to scale the content proportionally to fill the new page, use PDF Compress with the 'Resize' option, or pre-shrink the content with a layout tool.

What units can I use for custom sizes?

Millimeters (mm), centimeters (cm), inches (in), and PostScript points (pt) are supported. 1 inch = 72 pt = 25.4 mm. The values are converted precisely — no rounding loss in the conversion step.

Can I resize a password-protected PDF?

Yes. If the PDF is encrypted, you'll be prompted for the password. The decryption happens locally in your browser and the password is never sent to a server. After unlocking, resizing proceeds normally.

Is the resized PDF identical to the original content?

Yes. We modify only the page MediaBox (and CropBox to match). Text, images, fonts, annotations, form fields, and metadata are preserved exactly. The file structure is rewritten but the visible content is unchanged.
