Common Questions

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Splitting runs entirely in your browser using a local WASM module — your file never leaves your device. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool will still work fully offline.

What page-range formats are supported?

Comma-separated pages and ranges, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. Single pages can be written as just the number (5) or as a range with the same start and end (5-5). Whitespace is ignored. The page numbers are 1-based.

Can I split a single page?

Yes. Use a range like 7-7 or just 7 to extract a single page into its own PDF. The output will be a one-page PDF with the same content as the selected page.

Will splitting reduce PDF quality?

No. Splitting is lossless: pages are copied byte-for-byte except for the cross-reference table and trailer. Text, images, fonts, annotations, and form fields are preserved exactly.

Is there a limit on the number of pages?

No. The tool processes the entire file in your browser, so the practical limit is your device's available memory. A 1000-page PDF is comfortably handled on any modern laptop or phone.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Yes. If the PDF is encrypted, you'll be prompted for the password. The decryption happens locally in your browser and the password is never sent to a server. After unlocking, splitting proceeds normally.

Should I download files one by one or as a ZIP?

Batch mode produces a single ZIP archive containing all the split PDFs, named like document_split_1-3.pdf and document_split_5.pdf. Single mode extracts only the first range. Use Single when you only need one section; use Batch for everything else.

Is the tool really free?

Yes. There is no charge, no sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on the number of files you can split. The tool is supported by non-intrusive advertising on the surrounding pages.
